After spending most of his time promoting his songs on AIM and Myspace, he began to tour regionally playing in VFW Halls, American Legions and independent venues across the country. SSDC would often perform shows in mall parking lots with his mini disc player plugged into his car speakers and singing over top.  After getting scared of traveling alone he enlisted the live help of various instrumentalists and signed a record deal with Drive-Thru Records in 2009. His first release on the label was a split ep “Chicken Finger Fingers” with Allstar Weekend made exclusively to be sold while promoting at the parking lots of Jonas Brother concerts. The promotional tour was cut short when the van carrying both bands was crushed into a telephone pole by a semi-truck.
