Washington's bullpen picked Max Scherzer up after the right-hander struggled and was out after throwing 97 pitches in just four innings pitched. With the win, the Nats improved to 70-47 with two more to play in Denver, Colorado.

The Nats collected a season-high 19 hits and won their 62nd game of the year, improving to 62-44. Trea Turner, Daniel Murphy, Anthony Rendon, Wilson Ramos and Clint Robinson all had multi-hit games in the desert and Mark Melancon made his Nats debut, striking out two in an 11-pitch ninth. Two more in AZ over the next two nights.

01/08/2016 Duração: 20minSan Francisco Giants’ righty Matt Cain held the Washington Nationals hitless though five, and the Giants’ pen allowed just one earned run in four innings in what ended up a 3-1 win. Gio Gonzalez was not particularly sharp, but the two runs that scored when he was on the mound were the result of errors. Washington settled for a split of the four-game set in AT&T Park, and they head off to Arizona for a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 61-44 record on the year.

No really. You never know what you'll see when you tune in for baseball. Roark got the curly-W (10-6) and the Nationals improved to 60-42 on the year with three more to play in AT&T Park this weekend.
