St. Louis Blues The Drop Podcast

The Blues and Flyers came in to this game as two of the most dissapointing teams in this NHL season. Both teams would start young goalies in net. The Flyers would have the highly touted Carter Hart in net. While the Blues Jordan Binnington would get this first start in the NHL. The Blues took a 1-0 lead in to the third period and added to it for a 3-0 shutout aginst the Flyers.

The Blues dominated the Capitals in their previous win and started the Game aginst the Islanders in the same fashion. The Blues only allowed 8 shots on goal in the first two periods and were up 2-1 going in to the third period. The Blues defense and Jake Allen fell apart in the third and allowed 3 Islander goals on just 6 shots on goal.

Although future NHL Hall Of Fame player Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the year the Blues dominated the Capitals in this 5-2 win. The Blues offense was supplied by Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko, Oskar Sundqvist, Alex Pietrangelo, and Tyler Bozak. The Capitals two goals were scored by Alex Ovechkin and Brett Connolly. Jake Allen was in goal for the Blues and stopped 23 of 25 shots for the win.

The Blues issues with giving up costly power play goals continued Monday night against the Rangers. The Rangers first of 2 goals was scored at the end of the first period on the Rangers third power play of the game. The Blues lone goal was scored by Ryan O'Reilly. Jake Allen stopped 21 of 23 shots in the loss.

The Blues miss another opportunity to grab a three game winning streak in their 6-1 blowout lose to the Penguins. The Penguins scored 4 power play goals. While the Blues could only muster one goal from David Perron in the second period.

The Blues came out of the Christmas break with a huge 4-1 win over the Sabres. Jake Alllen was once again strong in the net. Jake stopped 31 out of 32 shots on goal. The Blues four goals were scored by Robert Thomas, Jay Bouwmeester, Pat Maroon, and former Sabre Ryan O'Reilly. Lance recaps all of the best highlights in the game and discusses the Blues chances to make the playoffs this year. 

The Blues wanted to head to their Christmas break on a positive note. They would accomplish this by getting a strong effort in net by Jake Allen. Jake would stop 28 of the Flames 29 shots on goal. The Blues offense would be supplied by David Perron, Tryler Bozak, and Oskar Sundqvist. The Flames lone goal would be scored by St. Louis native Matthew Tkachuk. Lance also discusses the recent Blues trade rumors and whether or not Alex Steen should waive his no trade clause.

The Blues come out flying in the first period, but were unable to get anything past Jakob Markstrom and headed in to the locker room tied at zero. The Canucks came alive in the second with two goals scored in less then 30 seconds to take an early second period lead 2-0. While the Canucks defense was strong in the second and the Blues could only put three shots on goal. The only Blues goal would be by Vladimir tarasneko in the third period to make it a 3-1 game. Vancouver would go one to win 5-1.

The Blues headed to Edmonton to play the Oilers after an embarrasing 7-2 loss to the Flames at home on Sunday afternoon. They regrouped for a big road win behind a strong defense, good goaltending, and timely scoring. The Blues were lead offensively by Braden Schenn who assisted on 3 of the 4 Blues goals.

Going in to this game with Calgary the Blues had won two games in a row and were hoping to make it 3. The Flames would rip those expectatons apart by taking a 4-0 lead out of the first period. Out of the four goals alllowed two were power play goals and one was a short handed goal. St. Louis made a mini comeback in the second period with two goals, but they were only able to get six shots on goal in the third period and lost 7-2.

Blues Goalie Jake Allen would be peppered with 42 shots on goal by Colorado and Ryan O'Reilly would get the game winner in overtime. However, the star of the game was defensemen Colton Parayko. Parayko scored two goals on wicked slap shots from the point.

The Blues werre trailing the Panthers 1-0 going in to the third period, but the offense came alive in the third. David Perron lead the team in scoring with 2 of the Blues 4 goals in the game. Lance recaps the game and discusses the latest Blues trade rumors and much more.

The Blues were on the bad side of bad bounces and bad defensive play that led to Jake Allen being pulled after Vancouver took a 3-0 lead in the first period. Chad johnson came in to replace Jake and allowed 3 more goals in the loss. Brock Boeser scored 3 goals and Eliass Pettersson added a goal and 3 assist for the Canucks.

Jake Allen and the St. Louis defense shut down the Jets and played a strong complete game in Winnipeg on Friday night. Allen was tested early in the game and came up with two great saves in the 1st period. Those saves would set the tone for the rest of the game for the St. Louis net minder. Colton Paryko's long slap shot from near the blue line would get passed Connor Hellebuyck in the second period and would be the lone goal by either team.

In this podcast Lance breaks down the signing of Hitchcok for his last year with the Blues, the hiring of Mike Yeo as the coach in waiting, and now this teams need and search for another head coach.

The Blues took a 2-0 lead out of the first, but Edmonton kept chipping away at the lead. The Oilers would get a goal in the second period by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the tiying goal late in the third by Oscar Clefbom to take it to overtime. Neither team could score in overtime. The shootout started well for the Blues when Tyler Bozak put one past Cam Talbot. However, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid put a shot each past Jake Allen for a 3-2 Oilers win.

The Blues allow 24 shots on goalie Chad Johnson in the second period leading to 4 goals by the Coyotes. Lance also discusses the Tom Wilson hit on Brett Seney and he ends the podcast with some thoughts on what this team needs to do to get back on track. 

The Blues put together a complete game of physical and mostly mistake hockey against the Avalanche en route to a 3-2 overtime win. The Blues were lead by Jake Allen in goal and Colton Parayko. Parayko was not only physical through most of the game, but hea also added the winner in overtime.

The Red wings came out flying in the first period and peppered Jake Allen with 15 shots, but they could not capitalize on any of their opportunities. The second period would see an offensive explosion of 5 goals by the Blues and Red Wings. The Red Wings took a 3-0 lead in to the late part of the second period. Only to have David Perron and Vladimir Tarasenko get two of the goals back for the Blues to make the score 3-2 Detroit at the end of the second. David Perron would tie the game up in the third with his second goal of the game. Then Detroit's Tyler Bertuzzi gave the wings the win with his second of the game.

After the huge home win against the Predators the Blues were looking for a strong effort against the Jets on Saturday night. What they actually got was a bad defensive game with way to many mistakes. Laine lead the Jets with 5 Goals and  Kyle Connor added 4 assist in the Jets 8-4 win at Enterprise Center in St. Louis
