Episode 125: The Church - Its Future
31/10/2018 Duração: 22minWhat will the Body of Christ look like in the future? Are the determining factors for faithfulness to the gospel large attendance numbers, denominational purity, or a particular belief system? Or will followers of Jesus be known as those who have embraced his call to die to their wants, deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him? Mark 8:34-38This week one of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS asked: How much latitude should individuals or organizations within a denomination have with regards to application of policy? We welcome your feedback and questions about this topic! Episode 124: The Church - The Power Of Torn-Down Walls
24/10/2018 Duração: 09minLove binds everyone together in perfect harmony. When the church, the Body of Christ, loves one another, it become sight in the darkness. It becomes the answer for all the sin (misdirected love), and this love is found exclusively in the local church when God is having his way with the Body.Ephesians 2:13-16;19-22This week we had an unusually small number of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS in that there were only four total. Usually we only focus on one that coincides with the content we cover on a particular episode of the podcast but all four were really solid. And given our different format this week it seemed like all four should make an appearance: •How have I grown in my walk with God as a result of the ministry, insight, and example of other members of my Faith Family? •What gifts has God given me that might be a blessing to my fellow members? •If someone admits to an addiction, would they be lifted up in prayer and encouragement and acceptance in this church? •A choice:

Episode 123: The Church - Fallen And Rescued
17/10/2018 Duração: 19minGod’s kids were not faithful. Instead of self-giving, they became self-grasping. They sought their own glory to be like God. Every earthly ill can be traced to this single defect. ALL find their root in self-grasping, the failure to embody the glory of God’s other-directed love. The new, rescued, restored family of God—the body of Christ, the church—is God’s plan to restore his glory of other-directed love.YouTube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndFYFQ63LQcSparkle Walk Info: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?teamID=827370&langPref=en-CA#&panel1-1One of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS this week asked: Where will you invest and what darkness will you make light as the body of Christ in 2018?We welcome your feedback and questions about this topic! Episode 122: The Church - Founded In Love
10/10/2018 Duração: 18minHumanity was created to bear the image of God, to make visible the very likeness of the Creator, and that could not be done in isolation. God created mankind, “male and female,” a family where the divine image could be practiced and reflected in self-giving love as is the eternal practice of the Trinity: the Father loves the Son, the Son loves the Father, and the Holy Spirit glorifies the Father and Son in the “spirit” of love. The church, the family of God, was and will ever be marked by other-directed self-sacrificing love. One of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS this week asked: What has been your experience with church? We welcome your feedback and questions about this topic! Episode 108: Love People
27/06/2018 Duração: 20minWhat does that mission really mean: Loving People Into A Lifelong Friendship With God? How is it that we go about loving people? It certainly is different than judging people and not even close to condemning people by their association with a belief system or life practice with which we don’t line up. Scripture is clear that Jesus didn’t approve of the behavior, the practice, of the woman caught in adultery. However, in the end, his words were ones of comfort: “Neither do I condemn you. Go and stop your practice of sinning.” We may, even here at FHC be enamored by the concept, the idea, some romanticized notion of loving people. But we must move on to boots on the ground. Every day, with great intention, planning, keeping it on the front burner, we must be actively seeking to love people. It will pay dividends to us; people like to be loved. But that’s not why we love. We love because he first loved us, and we want everyone to know the joy of a lifelong (eternal) friendship with the God who defines himsel

Episode 107: Open Our Eyes
20/06/2018 Duração: 21minMaybe the first requirement for having vision is to open our eyes. When we open our eyes to the hurting, we may be inspired with a comforting vision. When we open our eyes to those who are being oppressed by others, we may arrive at a vision that sets the captives free. When we open our eyes to the lost nature of sin, we may develop a vision to bring salvation and hope. Our vision to be a church without walls can motivate us to move beyond ourselves. Our vision to be fully engaged in serving the people of our community aligns us with the very work of Jesus who came not to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. What might happen if a whole church of people shifted from seeking to be served (having it my way, matching my tastes, comfortable to my style, etc.) to really be committed and fully engage all the time wherever we are (our community at the moment), to being a servant like Jesus? We might just change the world. This week one of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS asked: What do you “see” in the f
