  • Conversation Street Episode 537

    27/08/2022 Duração: 02h54min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown the in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th August (Episodes #10723 - 10728) This week, Stu gets released from prison and is determined to prove his innocence, but can the combined powers of Alya, Zeedan and (eventually!) Yasmeen get to the bottom of what really happened 27 years ago? Well we have a theory if they need a bit of help with that one... Meanwhile, there's double trouble for Bernie when she meets her doppelgänger, Stephen's quest to get into Carla's knickers continues, and Aadi loses his L plates AND his V plates all in one week! Up next on the podcast it's the Kabin, where we see how Corrie's fared in this year's NTA shortlist and find out about Alexandra Mardell's first post-Corrie project. We end the show with more of your feedback, including some lovely comments about our report on our trip to Manchester and plenty of praise for last week's scenes with Audrey. • Anniversary Feedback Special

    25/08/2022 Duração: 01h22min

You may remember we were recording a teensy bit late last Friday night and didn't get round to reading all of your lovely feedback sent in to commemorate the podcast's tenth anniversary. As you can tell by the fact that this is nearly an hour and a half long, we don't think we'd have quite had the time or energy to have popped it at the end of Episode #536, so here it is, in its own special episode! It was honestly so lovely to hear all your kind comments about Conversation Street, the community and your memories from the past ten years of the podcast, so we hope that if you do listen to this, it puts just as big a smile on your faces as it did ours!

  • Our Tenth Anniversary Trip To Manchester

    23/08/2022 Duração: 02h28min

When we headed up to Manchester for the tenth anniversary of the podcast with very little in terms of plans for the week, little did we know just how much Corrie related goodness we'd be packing into those seven days. From catching up with cast members to going behind the scenes to see some upcoming episodes being filmed, this was a truly unforgettable experience, which we're excited to share with you now. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this week happen! 0:06:22 Arrival 0:15:55 Monday - First celebrity encounter / Imperial War Museum / Visiting outside of studios 0:24:18 Tuesday - Meeting Michael Adams / Corrie window at the Lowry Outlet Mall / Drinks at the Alchemist 0:31:07 Tuesday - Dinner with Sally Ann Matthews and Adam Blease 0:34:56 Wednesday - Waiting outside the gates / Meeting Paddy Bever and Shelley King 0:42:32 Wednesday - Arrival at the studios 0:47:20 Wednesday - Touring behind the scenes 1:28:28 Thursday - Lunch with archivist Dominic Khouri and story producer Joe Parkinson 1:38:27

  • Conversation Street Episode 536

    20/08/2022 Duração: 02h35min

Our tenth anniversary edition of the podcast is here! Recorded in an apartment overlooking the Coronation Street studios a decade to the day after the release of our very first show, this special episode covers everything that went on in Weatherfield between the 15th and the 19th August 2022 (Episodes 10717 - 10722). Confession time: we did originally intend to make this a slightly longer episode by including the virtual mountain of feedback and well wishes that you guys have been sending in over the past week, but due to us getting an unexpected and very welcome invite to a little do with some of the cast members on Friday evening (Michael even got his hair cut especially, so that's how you know it's serious!), we didn't even start watching Corrie until about half past nine! We hope you understand, then, that once Gemma's tenth anniversary quiz is over at the start of the podcast, this episode is a Street Talk only affair! Fortunately, the Corrie gods were smiling down on us when they blessed us with Monday'

  • Coronation Street Cast Vs Fans Quiz

    19/08/2022 Duração: 02h15min

Who knows more about the characters on Coronation Street - the cast who play them or the devoted fans? In this special episode of the podcast, made to celebrate Conversation Street's 10th anniversary this week, we aim to find out! Over the course of over two hours, we pit ten clever listeners against ten cast members from Corrie past and present with questions about the characters they play. Which side will be crowned champions? Tune in and find out! This episode was put together to raise money for The Trussell Trust. At the time of publishing, we have already raised over £500! If you would like to contribute, you can do so at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/conversationstreet10. A big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Thanks too to Octopus Publishing Group, who have kindly agreed to donate a copy of the upcoming Coronation Street Puzzle Book to all the fans who took part in the quiz.

  • Conversation Street Episode 535

    13/08/2022 Duração: 02h23min

On our latest podcast, we battle through the intense mugginess of the latest heatwave to bring your our thoughts on the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 8th and the 12th August (Episodes #10711 - 10716). You know those times when characters get themselves into a spot of bother that they could easily explain their way out of if they only tried? Well, it felt like we spent most of the first half of this week yelling at Stu to stop saying he's not a murderer and actually explain what happened 27 years ago. And when the explanation finally came ('A nasty policeman made me say I did it!') we still felt there must be more to this mystery than meets the eye. Thank goodness Yasmeen is being perfectly reasonable and willing to listen, forgive and forget. Oh wait... Also this week, Ryan becomes increasingly desperate in his attempts to avoid jail, Stephen joins Debbie in the 'up to your eyes in debt so let's do something dodgy' club, and Spider gets his eight legs over with Toyah. Up next in Th

  • Jamie Kenna Interview

    09/08/2022 Duração: 39min

This week, we're thrilled to be joined by Jamie Kenna, who Corrie viewers fell in love with over the past year in the role of Phill 'With Two Ls' Whittaker. Jamie chats about Phill's romance with Fiz, the budding bromance with Tyrone, and shares what it was like to film some of his most memorable scenes - including THAT concrete fight between Phill and Ty!

  • Conversation Street Episode 534

    06/08/2022 Duração: 03h06min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 1st and the 5th August (Episodes #10705 - 10709). This week, Ryan followed in his dear mum's footsteps, continuing the proud Connor tradition of making a hash job of robbing the Bistro. Yes, it was all a bit silly, but we love both Ryan and Debbie, so we just sat back and enjoyed the ineptness of it all, and we're looking forward to seeing where things go next. Also this week, we were treated to the glorious introduction of the latest in the line of never before mentioned Shuttleworths - this time, George's sister Glenda, whose confident debut on the cobbles left us keen to see what the producers have up their sleeves for her. All that plus Sally's kitchen porn habit, some intriguing details about Stu's supposed past misdemeanours and the prospect of Leo bogging off to Canada... all in all, we found it a pretty decent week! Up next on the podcast it's the Kabin, with the news that OG Bistro Ninja Kym Marsh will

  • Corrie Goes Down Under

    03/08/2022 Duração: 01h54min

For this week's bonus podcast, we pay tribute to Aussie soap Neighbours, which broadcast its final episode last week, by looking at all the links Coronation Street has had with Australia over the years. From Australian characters like Ian Latimer and Hannah 'Fake Katie' Gilmore to the time that Pat Phoenix, Jack Leslie and Doris Speed took a trip Down Under, we make as many connections as we can find to our Aussie cousins. After that, we take the opportunity to share our thoughts on the final few episodes of Neighbours, then finish off the show by chatting to Vaya from the Neigbuzz podcast about the unfortunate demise of her favourite soap. 00:00:00: Corrie Goes Down Under 01:01:03: Our thoughts on Neighbours' final week 01:28:22: Chat with Vaya from Neighbuzz podcast

  • Conversation Street Episode #533

    30/07/2022 Duração: 02h28min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 25th and the 29th July (Episodes #10699 - 10704). We don't know whether it's the hot weather (though we suspect not as that seems to have passed Weatherfield by this summer!), but everyone seemed to be losing their rag on Corrie this week. Whether it's Kevin stressing out over building a cot, Stephen getting unreasonably irate about his supposedly fixed car breaking down, Beth getting narked off about Summer's new PA job or Leanne reverting to her grumpy ways when she hears that Debbie's planned a psychic night at the Bistro, these guys could seriously do with taking a chill pill this week. And speaking of pills, we've still not got to the bottom of whether or not Audrey's overdose last Friday was done on purpose either... Next up on the podcast, in the Kabin, we're joined by the brains behind the excellent Coronation Street Blog, Glenda Young, who tells us about her own soap Riverside, which has recently been released online as an

  • Sophie Dainty Interview

    28/07/2022 Duração: 34min

We don't know about you guys, but Digital Spy has always been a website we've liked to visit for the latest entertainment news, and so this week on the podcast, we were excited to be able to talk to Sophie Dainty, the Deputy Soaps Editor there. Sophie chats about how she got involved in the website, what she thinks about spoiler culture in soaps and shares some of her personal favourite Corrie characters and stories from over the years.

  • Conversation Street Episode 532

    24/07/2022 Duração: 03h01min

On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Corrie that were shown in the UK between the 18th and the 22nd July (Episodes #10693 - 10698). This week was pretty rough for poor Kelly, who gets the Andy Carver treatment by being locked in a dank cellar by a narked villain. Fortunately for her, her stay at Weatherfield's least inviting AirBnB was cut short after a couple of episodes, and her rescue has led her to view Gary in quite a different light... Also this week, the local marriage guidance counsellor is coining it in after getting no less than three visits from Fiz, the salon gets a makeover and Frank finally shows his true colours when he lays into Dylan after a football injury. In The Kabin segment of the podcast, we run down all the nominations in this year's Inside Soap Awards, and we round off the podcast with more of your lovely listener feedback, including a voicemail from Canada! • Corrie’s First Fifty Years

    21/07/2022 Duração: 01h48min

For the past two and a half years, we've been working our way through the DVD box sets of Corrie between 1960 and 2009, supplemented with a few more episodes sourced elsewhere for good measure! In this episode of the podcast, we reflect on our overall thoughts of the experience. Did our first ever viewing of some of the very early episodes live up to expectations? Who were some of our newly discovered favourite characters, and is there anyone from more recent times that we've changed our minds about after seeing them a second time round? Which episodes would we particularly recommend to someone looking to take the plunge into classic Corrie? We discuss all this and more in this week's bonus podcast!

  • Conversation Street Episode 531

    16/07/2022 Duração: 02h35min

On our latest podcast, we chat about what happened on Corrie between the 11th and the 15th July (Episodes #10687- 10692). There's someone about Maria this week, as the crimper-cum-councillor finds she's being stalked - but who could it be? Don't worry, though - in a not at all soap phrase of doom moment, Kelly remarks that SHE has never felt safer... Meanwhile, despite openly snogging in public at the end of last week's episodes, Tyrone and Fiz decide to keep their rekindled romance a secret until she can get an annulment from Phill. Also this week, Ed's in for a shock over at Chariot Square, Tim tries to spice things up by Voggling for some 'normal' adult videos and the disharmony in the Platt household causes Stephen to return to Milan - but has he gone back for good?   Up next on the podcast, we celebrate the news of Sally Carman and Joe Duttine's recent nuptials, and we finish off the show with more of your feedback. • Alf Roberts Character Profile

    14/07/2022 Duração: 01h43min

A character dating back to the very early days of the show, Corrie legend Alf Roberts was a mainstay on the cobbles for nearly forty years, earning the respect of his neighbours as a local councillor and mayor, as well as the adoration of many a Coronation Street viewer. Though nowhere near as experienced as fellow long-timer Ken Barlow when it came to women, Alf was linked with a few lovely ladies in the early days including Maggie Clegg and Renee Bradshaw, but of course it was his partnership with Audrey for which he is best known and most loved. In this character profile, we take an in-depth look at Alf's life story, including some of his most memorable scenes and episodes.

  • Conversation Street Episode #530

    09/07/2022 Duração: 02h13s

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 4th and the 8th July (Episodes #10681 - 10686). In fact, that's pretty much all we manage this week - for various reasons, we've had to make this a Street Talk only episode, but it's still a good couple of hours long even so! The main story this week was the big wedding of Fiz and Phill. Many of us had been wondering for a while whether it would actually take place or if she would instead opt for the much anticipated reunion with Tyrone. Well, it turned out to actually be a bit of both - and there are definitely some strongly opposing views on the podcast about that particular outcome! Also this week, Audrey puts the Platts to the test when she reveals she's leaving all her cash to WARTS (excellent callback, by the way!), Steve manages to get himself scammed when he pays for someone to fix his roof, and Spider follows in the footsteps of Wendy and Stephen by coming back for two episodes before disappearing off screen again

  • Coronation Street In The 00s Part 2: 2005 - 2009

    05/07/2022 Duração: 01h42min

It's been a a very long time coming, but in this episode of the podcast, we finally get round to chatting about the episodes of Corrie that we've been watching from the 2005-2009 era. This takes us very close to the start of the podcast, so parts of it felt very recent to us, but how did this affect our enjoyment of the show? This period saw the rise of Demon David, the violent death of Charlie Stubbs, and the beginnings of Tony Gordon's descent into villainy. There were also some fantastic shorter stories too, like the appearance of Norris' estranged brother Ramsay. We also got the introduction of two of our then favourite characters, Carla and Becky, but which of them did we find a bit of a disappointment the second time round? Overall, this may not have been a golden era for Corrie in our eyes, but we still had a blast chatting about our time watching it, so we hope you enjoy listening!

  • Conversation Street Episode 529

    02/07/2022 Duração: 03h16min

On out latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 27th June and the 1st July 2022 (Episodes #10675- 10680). This week, the online anti-Maria campaign gets knocked up a notch when Weatherfield's esteemed councillor gets deepfaked into a porn video. Congrats, Coronation Street - you've actually made us feel a bit of sympathy for Maria for once! Honestly, Alf Roberts and Len Fairclough never had to put up with this kind of thing... Meanwhile, Friday's episode saw a trio of rovers returning to the cobbles in the form of Nicky, Mimi and of course, the arachnidan activist himself, Spider Nugent! It's been nearly 20 years since we last saw this fan favourite character on the Street, and thankfully, he doesn't seem to have changed one bit! Also this week, Peter sees red after the case against Thorne is dropped, George and Todd plot to expose Frank for the bully he really is, and Aaron plans a Summer holiday. Up next on the podcast, we take a quick visit to The Kabin, w

  • 2022: Our Reflections On The Year So Far

    28/06/2022 Duração: 01h13min

We've reached the end of June, and that can only mean one thing: our annual mid-year look at how Corrie has been shaping up in the first half of 2022. We remember the year getting off to a bit of a ropey start when Gemma, Chesney and Joseph were put front and centre, alongside the misadventures of Emma and Faye, but things have certainly changed for the better, at least in our eyes, with the Abi, Toyah and Imran story, even if there's been one casualty there that we certainly wouldn't have wanted... In this discussion, we take a look at which stories and scenes have really stuck with us, which have been a bit of a miss, and think about how we'd like certain stories to develop over the rest of the year.

  • Conversation Street Episode 528

    26/06/2022 Duração: 02h51min

We're a little bit later than usual this week, but here we are at last, chatting about what went down on the cobbles between the 20th and the 24th June in the UK (Episodes #10669- 10674). If you're a fan of Team Platt, there would have been a lot for you to like this week as its family members dominated the main stories. Firstly, you've got Audrey, who kept us very much entertained with her boozy shenanigans in the first half of the week; as well as this, you've got Max, who's managed to make a bit of a plonker out of himself by sending a saucy picture of his bits and bobs to who he thought was Sonya, but who turned out to be his so-called mates. When will these kids ever learn, eh? And if one story about a character's private parts wasn't enough for you, then by golly you'll have left this week a lot more satisfied than Sally was as we were also treated to the ongoing tale of Tim's temperamental todger, including a hilarious case of mistaken identity when the lady from the local donkey sanctuary comes a-knoc
