  • Physician Selected CBD Hemp Oil | Dr. Pete Gemelli HGP#36

    30/11/2018 Duração: 56min

CBD, also known as hemp oil, is a hot topic right now and often comes with a negative stigma. This episode is here to give you all you need and want to know about CBD. CBD is a compound of the hemp plant that has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, neuro-protectant qualities, and healing properties. My guest this week is Dr. Pete Gemelli, a Physiatrist who works with pain patients who deal with chronic and acute pain. Due to the rise of opioid overuse and abuse, Dr. Gemelli wanted something that wasn't a narcotic that he could prescribe to pain patients. Dr. Gemelli set out on a mission to find an alternative and after months of research he decided to consider CBD as an alternative. One of the first challenges he faced was finding a product that was clean and pure where he knew what was in it. Ultimately this led him to create Physician Selected: a broad spectrum, high quality hemp oil that contains very minimal THC, offering users the peace of mind of a safe product that isn’t harmful. In this podcast episode w

Imagine the impacts on your performance and mood if you could increase your work flow! Flow doesn’t just heighten creativity in the moment, it heightens it over the long haul. In other words, being in flow actually trains us to be more creative. Marlo gushes on the importance movement has on our bodies. Movement is mo

After a bodysurfing injury left Don with multiple surgeries he soon began to focus his energies elsewhere. Don was a professional fire-fighter and an active member of his local Surf Life Saving Club at Coogee Beach, NSW, Australia; the beach was where he spent his youth. He was also a strong swimmer who competed in many different sporting events. In 1983 he won the title of the World Surf Life Saving Body-surfing Champion. • Running + The Wired Athlete | Peyton Chitty HGP#28

    28/09/2018 Duração: 01h36min

Running wasn't always something Peyton was passionate about. In fact, he never ran a day in his life until 2012. Remnants of a former car accident left him with degenerated discs in his neck and required him to have a discectomy of his cervical spine. During his recovery, one single wrong move could leave him paralyzed. Peyton refused to let the victim stance mentality win. He resorted to walking for exercise. Walking soon led to running and running soon led to racing. 5k races led to half marathons. Half marathons led to marathons. During his second marathon, Peyton started feeling nauseous around mile 20 and did a walk/run for the last 6 miles. He chalked off his disappointment to dehydration and rookie mistakes. Weeks later Peyton was running a 10k in Oak Island where he fell to the ground just 200 meters from the finish. Peyton was rushed to the hospital and after many tests and doctor visits he was diagnosed with Bradycardia and type II Atrioventricular Block, which required him to get a pacemaker. Ins

  • Overcoming Addiction: Mike Furino | Drift Dreams HGP#26

    14/09/2018 Duração: 01h17min

Addiction can be a struggle and a hard thing to overcome, especially without any help. Mike Furino struggled with addiction for 20 years. Like many people, he went down the wrong path, got with the wrong crowd, and found himself smoking marijuana at 13 years old. Mike then moved on to selling marijuana and cocaine and eventually got expelled from every high school in Duvall County, Florida. He moved out of his parents house when he was 17 and ironically was able to afford a house in same neighborhood as his parents. Mike then started doing crystal meth and taking pills (Xanax) to help him sleep. Once he reached his early 20's he transitioned into drinking hard alcohol and "leveled himself out" with cocaine. As I learned in this podcast, every addict hits rock bottom at some point but Mike's first rock bottom wasn't enough. Now a functioning alcoholic working a really good paying job, Mike was still drinking himself into oblivion every day. He ultimately wrecked a food truck, found himself jobless and at rock,

  • Overcoming Anorexia | Ola Van Zyl Positive Vitality Nutrition: HGP#18

    20/07/2018 Duração: 01h07min

Nutrition can be powerful and life changing. At 13 years old Ola Van Zyl put herself on a diet. Ola compared herself to photos in magazines and wanted to be skinny like the women she saw. This pressure to look a certain way led to control over her eating and soon she went from being a vegetarian to reducing her food groups and the amount of food she ate until she found herself weighing 81.5 pounds (37 kilograms) as a 5'4" (1.65 meters) young woman in her 20's. Ola suffered from anorexia for 15 years until she overcame the disease but she still left with symptoms. Physically she was better but mentally she still suffered. She was eating food but wasn't eating the right foods. This resulted in Ola feeling depressed, anxious, and moody, and feeling thus, she isolated herself from friends and family.
