  • My 3 Focuses to Help Me Thrive This Semester - #48

    15/09/2020 Duração: 12min

Well... the summer time is now up. Today was Day 1 of the new semester! Lately I've had some struggles with having faith in facing an uncertain future. Here are the three things I'm going to focus on to help me pull through and get the most out of it. 1. Be okay with only having a snapshot view of the future - I'm just going to keep on working and growing, and let the puzzle pieces fall into place one by one. When I do procrastinate I will not spend a lot of time thinking about it, as this will only cause more stress and throw off my emotional state. In short... I will not let one thing that I do not know and one thing that is going wrong mess up everything that is going well.2. Remember that I have things to look forward to -  The way I have this semester set up I already have a lot to look forward to each week. I'll be doing two weekly gaming streams on Twitch to unwind, and I already have a lot of podcast interviews in the schedule that will happen.I will also choose to remember that th

    08/09/2020 Duração: 12min

This summer has been quite a journey for me. I was thinking I'd have a job/internship, but that didn't happen. So I've just been working on the podcast and other projects and having some fun on the side! Here's some of my main takeaways!1. Make time to do things out of the house - 2. Prioritize self care3. Sacrifice things of lesser importance for greater things.Get My Book / Join my Email List! - https://dallin-candland.ck.page/c79a9687e8 Support it on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Habits-Find-Your-Voice-Youth-ebook/dp/B08GLLLXPY/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=dallin+candland&qid=1598938396&sr=8-1(All Proceeds are going to help the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention)

  • 5 Lessons Learned From Writing My First Book! #46

    01/09/2020 Duração: 09min

Starting back around June 25, 2019 I started gathering thoughts to write my very first book! Last Monday I released it on Amazon (and it still needs some work for sure) and I wanted to share some things I learned from the journey. This will all help me tons for when I write my next books.1. Don't edit as you write - You need to have a skeleton to work with that you can flesh out.2. You Can Write Very Fast - You'll get faster over time as you are consistent. 3. A book positions you as an expert - People usually highly trust someone who's written a book about their experiences. It shows you have more than just surface level understanding.4. It's okay to start with garbage (low value writing) - Sometimes you have to get the yuck out before you get to the good stuff.5. It's a deep training for your mind - I feel so understood while I'm writing. It's very powerful.Get My Book / Join my Email List! - https://dallin-candland.ck.page/c79a9687e8 Support it on Amazon - https://www.ama

  • 5 Lessons Learned From My First Year of Podcasting! #45

    25/08/2020 Duração: 16min

On August 23, 2019 I was digging up potatoes in the hot sun in Driggs, Idaho when I had a bunch of different ideas for a podcast come to my mind. It all sounded so, so cool! I'd been planning on making one for months, almost years. It was too much for me. I had to do something, and I was tired of sitting on the fence of my mind. I decided that the very next day I would do everything I could do to make it happen. On August 24, 2019 this podcast was officially started! From that day I've done around 35 solo episodes and 10 interviews with industry experts, businessmen, entrepreneurs, and also some of my peers. It's been quite a ride!In this episode I broke down just a few of the big lessons that I've learned since that first time I hit record on the first episode of this show. 1. The power of planning ahead when it comes to planning and recording episodes2. Creating feels better than consuming (at least for me)3. Podcasting is a different beast - different than any other opportunity I'v

  • 3 Practical Tips For Better Sleep - #36

    23/06/2020 Duração: 13min

I talked about sleep, improving it, and making sense of it. This is truly something I am struggling with still but I'm working on it! 1. Prioritzation When I was in track back in high school I prioritized my sleep a ton! This led to me getting a lot of sleep and it was a routine pretty much. Sure I had my off days but they were the exception and definitely not the rule. This includes when you want to go to sleep. Are you prioritizing gaming, social media, etc. over sleepingThink of it like Radiator Springs in Cars – Try to go for the ease in preparing to sleep. Don’t open it back up at night. Every distraction has the potential to wake you up. Sometimes you will have to get up to take care of some things and that's okay. The point is that you want to feel somewhat in control Meditation - I didn't talk about it in the episode, but lately this is something that has helped me a lot too.Get Exercise - In the book Limitless it talks about how if you get a moderate amount of exercise throughout the we

It's good if you are able to help people out with what you do. If you are not able to do that then make sure that you put parts of your message into your work and school life. This will make it all the more fun and enjoyable.             I can think of times where I was able to share something that I was learning in my personal self-development with my class and it was always a lot of fun to do that. • Providing Immediate Value - #32

    02/06/2020 Duração: 12min

Ep#32 – Providing Immediate Value Give -  Have something to give to help out. For me I was giving out pieces of gum each day of college to random students. This helped me meet a lot of new people. It also gives you a purpose for something to do. Listen - It's been said that if you are really listening to someone you will always know what to say. Journey - Life was meant to be a bit unpredictable. I've had some great experiences just walking with people a bit and trying to get a feel for how they're doing. Luke 24 is a great scripture story that talks about this similar idea.Resources Mentioned Upbeat Podcast – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/upbeat-with-parker-kane/id1441238074 Adam O’ Connor - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRQ3h065wQLQZxJ5dcum8cA The Zoom YouTube Workshop - 6-Week Program to starting a YouTube channel and growing an audience!Dallin Candland - https://www.instagram.com/dreamchaserdallin/YIELD Today With Dallin Candland IG - https://www.instagram.com/yieldtodaywithdalli

    26/05/2020 Duração: 36min

Buckle up. We dig deep into some aspects of life and how this podcast’s future is looking. We also dive into some of the three biggest lies I’ve been telling myself lately. The real question that it comes up to is, "What is your vision? What is your identity?" The three big lies we tell ourselves: Lie #1 - “Your work will not pay off”My eye-opening experience with playing from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of TimeYour side hustles and all of these other things give you more practice to grow your craft that positions you to succeed in a big way later on.Look at your life over the last“What have you changed. What has changed the same? What has stayed the same says a lot about your identity. If you want to change your identity all you need to do is change your habits.” Lie #2 - “You need to have it all figured out right now.”The whole thing about life is that it’s different every single day.Bill Gates didn’t have it all figured out when he got started. What’s important is the process and not so much the p

  • 3 Mindsets That Have Changed My Life - #30

    20/05/2020 Duração: 42min

Ep#30 – Three Mindsets That Have Changed My Life  1. Make a Giant Difference For People I was actually 12. I remember that because it was my first year of scout camp, and I did the whole week with a cast on my right arm! The metacarpal bone that I fractured was right over my palm and it affected my whole hand (and arm)Empathic design is huge Knew what they could provideListened Spoke I want to provide content that makes a difference for people “People may not remember what you said, or what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel.” “I want to do everything that I possibly can to make someone’s life better.” You can help someone just by being around them. People can get a vibe just from talking to you. Starting a friendship with the person knowing that you truly care about them is such a good way to start one out. Sometimes people are already doing everything that they can possibly do and so being able to help them out in a small way is hugely satisfying and it truly helps them out. Really small
