Sinopse

I'm sharing personal experiences, stories, and things that have helped me succeed in my life and get through the struggles I've gone through. My hope is that this podcast gives a voice for those who feel that they have no voice, and helps them to appreciate their lives and look forward with faith.I'll also be doing interviews with friends, professionals, and the like about what they've learned about loving what they do and making a difference in their jobs, families, and communities.

  • Compassion on the Distracted - Dallin's Quick Thoughts - #295

    07/03/2023 Duração: 05min

When we fall short, it can be quite frustrating. When this seems to happen all because of getting distracted in one decisive moment, it can be nearly debilitating. Here's my quick thoughts on having compassion on ourselves in times where this happens. It comes down to going towards things that will help you regain your focus, letting things pass, and playing the long game. Always a work in progress though. It feels good to be back in the studio (aka my parent's garage) with much better recording capabilities and quality. • Creating Space For Your Thoughts to Grow - #288

    21/02/2023 Duração: 19min

Tonight I realized that although I had sold myself on getting the interview with Eric Teplitz out I need to push it back. I decided to give myself space, instead of forcing output or constraining one of my most precious resources - time.I thought this was a fantastic time to go deeper into this topic. How do we create space for ourselves, and how does this help our thoughts grow? For me having the definition that space is a place with zero expectations and I can just be is helpful. I shared some personal examples and other thoughts I hope will help you in this endeavor. Currently I am in between chapters of my life, and I do need to give myself tons of grace and patience. I am learning a lot more how to do that. Also in this episode:Why Hot Tub Tuesdays for my roommates and I at BYUI were so helpfulMy epic show-out performance playing pickup basketball todayThe consequences for not operating in calmness and in a good spaceI really was planning to get the episode with Eric out, but it'll have to wait until

  • Swallowed Up in Good Things - CC Trip 4/7 - #287

    17/02/2023 Duração: 10min

I'm all about being swallowed up in good things, because those help you see more possibility. I chatted briefly about this principle and how Tracy Mcgrady and Joesph of Egypt chose to be swallowed up in possibility even when the odds seemed against them. I'm very excited about this topic, and I hope that that shows and it helps you in some way. Every share of the podcast goes a LONG way! Recently the podcast got listened to in Japan and I super appreciate you guys sharing the show with those you think it could help them design their best life! I certainly do need your help. :) I'll see you back on Monday with another interview.  Related Episodes:278 - Listening to Souls and Building a Legacy ft. • Changing Gears and Choosing Joy - #286

    16/02/2023 Duração: 08min

Living at home again has taught me a number of things about myself. For one thing, it has reminded me that I need to keep on changing things up, and letting myself iterate. Doing this has led to me improving my overall output of the podcast. Lately it's also led to plenty of other benefits. Feeling more flexible overall with growing the show has been just one. I'm choosing to get more done in less time by only working on YIELD Today stuff on Monday and Tuesday. There will still be 3 episodes a week for the time being (I need to get the other 4 cross country trip episodes out still) but I am making more time for other projects (like my newer, more faith-based, podcast, Flecks of Gold)Seeing as I am not getting any of this time back I thought this would be a good move, and I apologize for not having another interview out this week. I'll have another one out next week for sure though. Thank you for sharing the episodes and helping the podcast grow! We're very close to 10k downloads and I want

  • Raising Your Temperature of Life - CC Trip 3/7 - #284

    10/02/2023 Duração: 08min

I love James Clear's example of raising the temperature of an ice cube, and how it takes time, but it becomes clear. I've been in a season of raising my overall temperature of life. When it comes to my running, overall kindness towards myself, among other things.I thought that I'd dig more into this topic and see what gems we can find. • When You Fall Short ft. James and Josh - Bros. Discussion - #282

    07/02/2023 Duração: 27min

I fell short today. I had an interview mostly edited but fell off of the tracks and didn't get it up in time. I'm fascinated with our ability to rewrite our stories and I got the idea to do a group discussion episode on this topic! This is the first episode of its kind. It's not an interview or just a basic Dallin Quick Thoughts episode. With this you get multiple viewpoints and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it! :) Here's a few notes we dug up while excavating the cave of this episode:1. Giving yourself some grace for what happened/didn't happen is very powerful 2. How you talk to yourself in these moments helps you reroute your path 3. Little practices can REALLY help ground you when this happens PS: This was recorded in Josh's car from my phone as he drove us back from a church activity.  Josh isn't our brother by blood but he's a bro and has helped us out for sure. This was super off the cuff but we hope it's helpful :)Related Episodes:#81

  • Two Birds, One Stone - CC Trip 2/7 - #281

    03/02/2023 Duração: 07min

I'm adamant about thinking through what is happening and not happening in life, and then designing workarounds. The two-birds-one-stone framework is a good one to help with making progress in multiple areas of your life at the same time. For one thing, I am doing this by driving through Utah and making a podcast episode. Here's a few notes I dug up while doing this episode (because that's what it be like sometimes):1. It generally is the "BEST" stuff that is in the two-birds or more at once tier2. It's usually by design that all of these two-birds-one stone things happen 3. Sometimes you need to change up what you're doing because the stone needs work4. Fulfilling breaks help you enjoy what you're doing and help your brain switch gears5. Consider stones that have worked well in your life beforePS: This was recorded in my car, so the sound quality is a bit lacking.
