The Last Night at The Carlyle podcast is weekly broadcast hosted by NBC personality, Sara Gore and filmmaker, Matthew Miele. Each show will feature a 30-45 minute interview with a signature personality. Whether a Hollywood celebrity, best-selling author, sports figure, recording artist, politician, or business titan, The Carlyle presents an endless array of characters. Each podcast will also feature an interview excerpt from the hotels upcoming documentary, Always at The Carlyle, that was filmed over the past four years and will be released theatrically this Spring.

On today’s first episode of 2020, Sara and Matthew welcome Erik Davis, Managing Editor of Fandango (which is celebrating 20 years btw), to chat Oscar predictions and what movies to watch for in the coming year. From their thoughts on all the nominees and films from 1917 to Parasite to Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, you do not want to miss this prior to the golden statues being handed out this coming Sunday. Then, we enjoy a glass of bubbly and chat all things Champagne with Didier Mariotti of Veuve Clicquot. Didier holds the impressive designation as the House’s eleventh Cellar Master and guardian of the House’s spirit. Listen to them discuss how Champagne is made, what foods are best to pair (Truffle Fries? Oysters?) and why you should be drinking it out of a white wine glass and not a flute. Waldo will also discuss how former Carlyle concierge, Dwight Owsley, taught him so much when he arrived at the hotel. We will also hear from Dwight himself and listen to him impart some of the knowledge he gained over his 36 year tenure at The Carlyle and the concierge philosophy of “friendship through service.”
